Sunday lecture with marine biologist Roger Kvalsund, February 12th

Roger has been with the Runde Environmental Centre since it first opened, and he is now retiring. This Sunday, you have a unique opportunity to hear Roger talk about spring in the sea. You will see and learn about things invisible to the naked eye—there are many rarities in the ecosystem. In this vast ecosystem, many are dependent on one another. If the food arrives two days late, you are dead.

Roger is a marine biologist (cand.real) from the University of Bergen, with a major in zooplankton. He is also an educator who has worked in teaching, including at the Runde camp school, and is an inspiring communicator. With extensive experience in aquaculture, the operation of land-based facilities for marine species, water quality in closed systems, and transport systems, he has acquired deep knowledge of fish health and the environmental impact of fish farming. For many years, he has also been responsible for spawning surveys of cod in the Borgundfjord.

At the Runde Environmental Centre, Roger has been involved in most of the centre's environmental projects, particularly the long-term assignments regarding the biology and ecological role of coastal sand eels. He has also carried out seasonal assignments for the Institute of Marine Research for more than 10 years.

The lecture starts at 3:00 PM. Admission is 50 NOK.

Dinner, coffee, and cakes will be sold in the café from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
