Runde Environmental Centre

Runde Environmental Centre is an international research station for marine coastal ecology. This involves developing research infrastructure and sustainable tourism in an area where the ocean, fish, and birds are part of a vulnerable ecosystem.

The Runde Treasure

In 1972, a great treasure was discovered on the seabed just off the coast of Runde. It had been waiting there to be found for nearly 250 years. Visit our exhibition to see the treasure and learn about the wreck of the merchant ship Akerendam, which sank in 1725.
