Guided kayak trip at Herøy Coastal Museum
Experience the history of the Herøy Coastal Museum from the seat of a kayak in the safe waters of the open sea.

About the tour
A kayak trip in the archipelago around Herøya offers fantastic nature experiences among a multitude of islands, islets, skerries, and sheltered coves.
Paddling in this area, with its more than a thousand years of maritime history, will bring you close to nature and provide an extraordinary excursion!
On the trip, you can explore the marine life in the clear water, spot fish and perhaps crabs beneath your kayak, and if you look up, you can enjoy the rich birdlife of the area.
Herøya has been a safe and welcoming harbor for seafarers since the Viking Age, and travelers have found rest on both the north and south sides before and after sailing around Stad (Vestkapp). Today, in addition to the museum with guided tours, a museum café, and a shop, you will find the old medieval church site and a beautiful recreational and hiking area. Herøya is also one of the designated pilgrimage destinations along the Coastal Pilgrimage Route that runs from Egersund to Nidaros.
Practical information
The trip is adapted to the skill level of the guests, and no prior paddling experience is required. We recommend bringing a water bottle and a snack, as well as warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and preferably a windproof and waterproof jacket.
Also, bring sunscreen and sunglasses on sunny days. The trip is 3–5 km long.
