Puffin safari with a nature guide

Every spring, thousands of puffins arrive at Runde to nest. This year, they arrived from the Atlantic around March 15th, and we will have them here until the turn of the month between July and August.
When the birds return from fishing as evening approaches, it is a spectacular sight in the puffin colony, where the area is well-prepared for getting up close to the birds.
Throughout the summer season, we offer small-group tours to the bird cliffs with our nature guide to see both puffins and other birds native to Runde.
You will get an introduction to the unique lives of the seabirds and some local history from the island, and of course the story of a real gold treasure from the wreck of the Akerendam off Runde in 1725, in our brand-new exhibition opening on June 1st.
The tour starts at Runde Environmental Centre with a guided tour of our exhibition and a screening of "Silver of the Sea," a fantastic nature documentary about the puffins and the ecosystem they are a part of on Runde. The tour is followed by dinner and concludes with a hike to the bird cliffs.
If you are lucky, we will end the tour as the sun sets into the ocean while the puffins swarm in the air above your head.
