White-tailed eagle

The white-tailed eagle was once a much rarer bird in Western European waters than it is today. Their population has seen a significant increase over the last 50 years, and today you can see several white-tailed eagles at Rundefjellet; if you are lucky, you might even see several at once! They primarily feed on fish, but they can also scavenge or perhaps even catch puffins! The appearance of the white-tailed eagle varies with age, and if you pay attention, you can tell the difference between a juvenile and an adult. Fully grown birds have a white tail and a more mottled white head. You might even be able to tell which ones spend the most time up on the mountain!
